Understanding the BACB Examination Identification Requirements.

When preparing to sit for a Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) exam, it is important to ensure your identification meets all requirements to avoid being denied admission.

The fundamental requirement for admission is that the first and last name on both of your required forms of identification must exactly match how the name appears in your BACB Gateway Account. A mismatch will result in being turned away from the examination site.

Required Forms of Identification

Candidates are required to provide two forms of valid identification.

1. Primary Identification

The primary identification must be government-issued and include both a photo and a signature. Acceptable forms of ID would be a Driver's License or a State/National ID Card (aka your Legal Name)

2. Secondary Identification

The secondary identification must include a signature, but does not need a photo. A signed credit card is acceptable, provided the signature matches the one on your government-issued ID.

Name Change Request & Update Process

If your name on your legal ID and in your BACB account are different, you must correct the discrepancy before your exam date.

Option 1: Update Your BACB Gateway Profile

To change your name in your BACB profile:

  1. Log in to your BACB Gateway Account.

  2. Go to the "Profile" section.

  3. Choose "Update Profile".

  4. Click "Name Change Request".

  5. Enter your legal name as shown on your current government-issued ID.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Submit proof of change via the BACB Contact Us Form.

Note: This request takes approximately 3 days to process, and you will receive a confirmation email when your information has been updated.

Option 2: If Already Approved for the Exam

If you have already been approved to sit for an exam, you will need to contact the BACB to let them know you need your name updated in Pearson VUE.
