Unlocking an iPad (Activation Lock)

If you encounter an "iPad Locked to Owner" screen, the device is protected by Activation Lock. To have this removed, you must provide specific hardware information to the support/IT team.

Follow the steps below to retrieve the necessary details and complete the unlock process.


Step 1: Locate the Serial Number

If the device is on the "Locked to Owner" screen, follow these steps to find the Serial Number (SN):

  1. Press the Power Button to turn the screen off.

  2. Press the Power Button again to turn the screen back on; the "Hello" screen should appear.

  3. Tap the (i) Information Icon located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

  4. A screen will appear displaying the SN (Serial Number) (e.g., HJ2JP1234)


Step 2: Contact Support/IT team.

Once you have the Serial Number:

  • Send a slack or email with the Support Team by tagging @support or @IT or sending email at support@finnihealth.com

  • Include the Serial Number you retrieved in Step 1.

  • The IT/Support team will verify the device and process the remote reset/unlock.


Step 3: Finalize the Reset

Do not attempt to set up the device until you hear back from IT.

  1. Wait for a confirmation reply from the IT team stating that the device has been reset.

  2. Restart the device (Hold the Power Button and choose Shutdown/Restart).

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to proceed with the standard setup
