Understanding Benefits Enrollment for Clinical Providers
Last updated: May 6, 2026
For full-time clinical providers, here’s a quick guide to understanding when benefit coverage begins, when to expect Rippling enrollment prompts, and what to do during the enrollment period
1. Coverage Start Date
Effective Date: Coverage for Full Time employees will begin on the first of the month after 30 days of service and/or status change.
2. Enrollment Timing in Rippling
Eligibility & Task Activation:
New hires who are benefits-eligible will automatically receive the Benefits Enrollment task in Rippling during onboarding.
If an employee is initially part-time or non-benefits eligible and later transitions to full-time status, the enrollment task will appear after the full-time update is completed in Rippling.
Pre-Enrollment:
Employees cannot pre-enroll before their eligibility date. The enrollment task only becomes active once they are eligible.
3. Rippling Enrollment Communications
Rippling manages enrollment forms directly within each employee’s account.
Enrollments are sent to the carrier through a secure file feed managed by Noyo (Rippling’s third-party vendor).
4. Enrollment Window & Grace Period
Default Enrollment Window: Employees have 30 days from their effective date to complete enrollment.
Example: If coverage is effective October 1, employees must enroll by October 31.
Retroactive Updates: Carriers generally allow retroactive changes up to 60 days.
In such cases, updates can be made directly with the carrier and manually reflected in Rippling by HR.
